Today is Rudolf Maister day, in memory of November 23rd, 1918, when the Slovenian general and his troops took control of the eastern city of Maribor. He thereby secured the area of Styria for Slovenia. European parliamentarian Marjan Šarec insisted yesterday that it would be impossible to imagine Slovenia without its eastern region and even to imagine Slovenian independence without it.
The main national celebration was held yesterday in his hometown of Kamnik.
