Hydrological conditions are calming down in Slovenia, after the devastating floods. In the Upper Savinja Valley, they are trying to provide electricity to the residents of Solčava and Luče. Elsewhere, road accessibility is being ensured.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen was in Slovenia today visiting flood-effected areas. She and PM Robert Golob flew over some of the affected areas. They also made a stop in Črna na Koroškem in northern Carinthia, talking to the people living there, as well.

The EU Commission president said that Slovenia would get EUR 400 million from the EU Solidarity Fund, EUR 100 million this year and EUR 300 million in 2024. She said the country could also draw another 2.7 billion euros from the Next Generation EU loans. Von der Leyen also addressed the National Assembly emergency session aimed to amend the Natural Disaster Relief Act in a bid to facilitate the clean-up effort in the aftermath of the most devastating floods on record.

PM Golob also announced that the government will set up a special fund with EU and domestic contributions aimed for the reconstruction, with the first contribution, EUR 300 million, coming from the national budget.
