Sending speeding tickets to emergency vehicles, which are passing radars with their lights and sirens on, is nothing else but an unnecessary waste of time. At the Emergency Medical Service of University Medical Centre Ljubljana, they have to deal with writing complaints and explaining, that they were on an urgent assignment, so they do not have to pay the penalty, because their emergency medical service team was rushing to help. The government’s law office also realized that these cases involve unnecessary procedures, but penalties are still coming in.

"The Misdemeanors Act specifies the procedure in detail and it is also worth considering that due to the principle of legality, the procedure has to be carried out against all lawbreakers,” explained Klemen Gaberšček from the Municipal Police Department.

Sending speeding tickets will apparently continue and there is no solution yet. The last meeting between the representatives of the municipal security, police, and emergency medical service on this matter, was cancelled.
