The memorial mass was offered by Celje bishop Stanislav Lipovšek, who said we must make peace with our past. Miran Korošec reported that many people said they came to pray for the peace of the deceased and the reconciliation of the living.

The ceremony commemorated the thousands of Home Guard members and other war and civil prisoners, who were executed after the Second World War in May and June of 1945 without a trial in the Teharje concentration camp and its surrounding areas. One of the few concentration camp prisoners, who managed to escape, Ivan Korošec said today that the crime, as well as the victims and their graves were kept secret for decades.
