EU leaders reached an agreement on carbon neutrality by the year 2050. The European Green Deal was agreed to by all of the member states, except Poland, which is heavily reliant on coal. Slovenia's PM Šarec expressed satisfaction with the EU agreement. Slovenia previously already announced plans to substitute the TEŠ 6 coal-fired power plant with a second nuclear reactor in Krško.

Infrastructure Minister Alenka Bratušek announced faster train connection between Slovenia's two biggest cities, Ljubljana and Maribor. The journey currently takes between 2 and 3 hours. Minister Bratušek said that next autumn the travel time would be cut down to 1 hour and 30 minutes, once the renovation of the railway sections is complete and the Slovenian Railway company received its new trains.
