My life, my music Bruno Baumann

8. 1. 2017

Bruno Baumann knew in his early teens that he was looking for a lifestyle that involved travel and adventure. From the very start he was fascinated by people from far away lands and wanted to learn how far he could take himself. His story is rich with the cultures he has grown to love and respect; the music is also full of human emotion and respect.

My life, my music Robert Friškovec

What better guest for Christmas than someone who deals with the care and emotions of many varied people who are in need of support. Robert Friskovec is a prison priest and obviously has to listen to and confront many problems. He has many experiences from which we can learn and perhaps see some weaknesses in ourselves. He also offers a fascinating range of music, each with a seasonal message.

At this time of the year the Slovene skiing team is already training and competing. He chooses some great music too!

When I saw the illustrations that Manica Musil had made using various fabrics I had to discover more. Her interesting journey through architecture to writer is fascinating and her love of creating something special for children is something very beautiful, whether you are a child of 3 or one of 67. Take a look at www.manicamusil.com to see what we are discussing.

My life, my music Matej Mršnik

16. 10. 2016

If you have ever wondered about just how guitars have moved from the original classically sweet acoustic sound to today's aggressive distorted versions of electric guitars then listen to Matej. He not only agreed to come to the studio to discuss this evolution but also brought his beloved Fender Stratocaster so he could demonstrate too. He's a really fantastic guitarist and offers some great inspirational music as well. Sunday 16th October at 1100 and Thursday 20th at 2100.

21. 8. 2016

Barja Drnovšek and Kristian Kolman are committed to the idea that all of us can benefit from learning music and that means an approach to teaching needs to be not too academic, at least not to start with. I met up with them running a workshop with Bojan Cvetrežnik in Laško, aimed at young children of a wide range of ages and experience and all managed to produce some great performances with an hour concert at the end of the five days. There is much to learn about the value of music!

My life, my music Mayor of Piran- Peter Bossman

12. 6. 2016

The mayor of a town need to have the respect of it's inhabitants. This was something that Peter Bossman had already achieved though helping the community, well before some of them asked him to stand as mayor. That respect means that he is really a friend of the people of the town; when he accepted my invitation to be a guest on My Life My Music I knew I had to record the show in Piran. Walking through the streets as we spoke I discovered that they really want him to feel at home in the community.

Markus Meurer plays the didgeridoo, but he's a very special player as he has spent time with indiginous tribes in Australia learning it's histroy and seeing how they live and make the instuments. Now he not only plays but he teaches too. Lots to learn from this show and some great didgeridoo and classic rock to hear.

My life, my music Photographer Ivan Dvoršak

1. 5. 2016

Ivan Dvoršak was well known as a graphic artist and photographer. As a member of the Fotoklub Maribor he was much respected for his images of the city and it's people, but in imaginative ways. Reflective water, everyday structures and even the effect of the people who changed the image but never even appeared in them. Through the eyes of Andreja Borin, curator at the Maribor Art Gallery we hear a story uncovered by 2 years of research with his friends and family and of course a deep understanding of his many images. An exhibition of the work of Ivan Dvoršak can be seen at the Ljubljana gallery of Modern Art until 22nd of May 2016
