Slovenia's largest botanical gardens, Arboretum Volčji Potok, already switched on their festive illuminations on 16 November, while the capital Ljubljana will follow suit tomorrow at 5pm.

Public relations advisor at Ljubljana Tourism Branka Gradišar: ‘’The festive events in Ljubljana traditionally begin on Friday before the first Advent Sunday. We will turn on the festive lights a little after 5 p.m. This year, the city will be decorated with more than fifty kilometers of lights, and more than eight hundred and fifty different sculptures will be placed around Ljubljana, including nine spruce trees and eighty-nine green trees which we will return to nature after the holidays.’’

Slovenia's second largest city, Maribor, will enter the festive season today, by kicking off the Magical December when a new illumination of more than 40-kilometre chain of lights will be switched on for the first time.
