Michelin stars were awarded for the first time today to restaurants in Slovenia. Five Slovenian restaurants were given a prestigious star: Hiša Denk, Pri Lojzetu, Vila Podvin, Dam and Atelje.
Hisa Franko, run by Slovenian star chef Ana Roš, was awarded 2 stars. Roš said Slovenia is great culinary destination, adding the stars have come at just the right time, as Slovenia's tourism and hospitality industry continue to struggle. The stars were supposed to be awarded in March but the event had to be postponed because of the coronavirus epidemic.
