Lado Kralj, a critic who died in December, has been awarded the Kresnik Prize for Slovenian novel of the year.
He won it for a story taking place in Ljubljana between the Italian occupation in the early 1940s.
A mix of fiction and fact, I'm Not Skating on the Pond Anymore, was his second novel and was published just before he died.
Kralj was the only male author shortlished for the prize, which is considered the most prestigious prize for novels in Slovenia.
