Last night's ceremony involved a number of musical acts, as well as dancers and actors.

President Nataša Pirc Musar said that she was happy to live in an era where there was a new milestone in Slovenian history, with women playing an important role in running society.

She also spoke of the need for reconcilliation and doing what was best for the common good.
