Slovenia extended border checks with Croatia and Hungary for another six months.
The government cited the increased threat of terrorism as a reason for the extension, which it says is a temporary measure. It said it would inform other EU member states, the European Commission and the European Parliament of the extension, in line with Article 27 of the Schengen Borders Code. Officials say police control at the border crossings will be implemented in a way to have minimal impact on the flow of passengers and business.
Italy and Austria have also extended their border controls with Slovenia. A number of other EU countries are also conducting internal border controls. On December 9th the Netherlands will introduce border control with Belgium and Germany.
