An event marking Earth Overshoot Day was held in Ljubljana today. Earth Overshoot Day is the day when humanity's demands exceed our planet's yearly resources. This year's global overshoot day falls tomorrow, on the 2nd of August, while Slovenia already exceeded all its yearly resources on the 18th of April. Speaking in Ljubljana today Environment, Climate and Energy Minister Bojan Kumer said the day was not a reason for despair but rather a call to action. At the panel debate, experts, environmentalists, NGOs, companies, and policy makers discussed sustainable practices and policies that can help reduce Slovenia's ecological footprint.
