A couple suspected of being Russian spies have been apprehended by Slovenian authorities. They become the first people to ever be charged with espionage in Slovenia.
They ran a real estate agency and an antique business in Ljubljana. They also allegedly had forged Argentinian passports and were living under fake names.
Slovenia’s foreign minister said that if the allegations were true, it would be a great success for Slovenia’s intelligence community.
The pair is suspected of spying in Slovenia and other countries.
They face up to eight years in prison if found guilty.
