One of the most popular book events in Slovenia is Book Night, which will culminate this evening. The day will see book fairs and lectures, some book shops will stay open throughout the night, schools across the country will be organizing late night readings, and prisons will also hold a number of workshops and debates.

This year honours the 200th anniversary of the death of Slovenian Enlightenment poet Valentin Vodnik, as well as the French Revolution ideas of liberty.
