An Algerian man was found guilty of trying to stab his friend to death in an asylum home in Ljubljana last year.
A court in Ljubljana found him guilty of attempted murder.
He was sentenced to 16 years and 7 months in prison, after which he will be expelled from the country for five years.
His fellow Algerian asylum resident was stabbed 11 times while asleep but survived the attack.
