Natalija Gorščak has officially been appointed as the new head of public broadcaster RTV Slovenija. She received the votes of 11 members of the council of RTV Slovenija, while her main opponent, the current director of Radio Slovenija, Mirko Štular, received only 4 votes. Meanwhile the third candidate, Boris Tomašič, received zero votes.
Natalija Gorščak, who in the past also served as director of TV Slovenia, will thus serve as chairman of the board of RTV Slovenija for the next four years.
Last week the government decided to increase the monthly RTV license fee paid by households by 10% starting in 2025. Gorščak said the increase will not solve the broadcaster’s financial problems, but said she would work to fulfil the expectations of the public.
