Slovenia’s Prime Minister Marjan Šarec will attend today an EU summit in Brussels that will for a second time seek an agreement on appointments to senior EU positions. The main goal is to get to an agreement before the meeting on Tuesday and the vote for a president on Wednesday. The spots of the presidencies of the European Commission, European Council, the European Central Bank and the position of high representative for foreign and security policy are elected every five years and the electees for these spots have to have at least 72 percent of support in the council or 21 votes out of 28. Šarec is supporting Danish EU Commissioner Margrethe Vestager for president and hopes that all top spots will be filled next week.
