The holiday commemorates the day when the last soldier of the Yugoslav People's Army left the country. It’s considered an important moment in the country’s independence.

Prime Minister Marjan Šarec and others will mark the event in Vrhnika.

On October 25, 1991 the last remaining Yugoslav Army soldiers departed from the port of Koper aboard a ship, effectively making Slovenia a sovereign state.
