Raiven, an academically qualified musician and a very popular artist, will represent Slovenia at the 68th Eurovision Song Contest with the song Veronika. Her song was selected from the entries by the international jury of experts.
»I strongly believe that with the song entitled Veronika, sung in Slovenian, Raiven will confidently present Slovenia to Europe and the wider world. She is an extraordinary musician, producing many hits and having a wide range of talents. We've looked for quality, performance and popularity, and we've found it. I think the international jury did a very good job and we are going to Malmö with a powerful performer and a brilliant song,« said Vanja Vardjan, Head of Entertainment Programme at TV Slovenija.
After a successful Eurovision year in 2023, Slovenia will once again be presented on the big Eurovision stage. Among the entries, Raiven's Veronika received the highest number of votes from the international jury.
»I want my performance at the Eurovision Song Contest to be a stepping stone for my future career. When I shared the news with my mother, she told me that when I was five years old and we were watching Eurovision together, she knew that one day I would be standing on the biggest musical stage,« recalls Raiven.
Veronika is the title of the song that Raiven will perform representing Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest. »Veronika was one of the first three songs I created for the upcoming short album, and I was also involved as producer from the very beginning,« said Raiven, who is the author of the music and lyrics again, just like on her previous works since her debut album Magenta.
»I'm Veronika, you're Veronika,« Raiven hinted. Veronika will be featured on her upcoming short album Sirene.
The final decision was presented by Slovenia's national public broadcasting organisation RTV Slovenija at a press event, held at the opera and ballet house SNG Opera in balet Ljubljana, where Raiven will perform as the leading role in Maria de Buenos Aires in February 2024. The baton was handed over to Raiven by Bojan Cvjetićanin, frontman of Joker Out, who took Slovenia to the Eurovision Grand Final last year.
