The keynote speaker was Freedom Movement MP Borut Sajovic. He emphasized that when the existence of a nation is under threat, resistance by all possible means is necessary and that without the resistance, people in Dražgoše would speak German today. The ceremony commemorates a battle on the 9th January 1942, when 200 soldiers of the Cankarjev Battalion tried to stop around 2.000 Nazi Germans who wanted to deport the locals.
