The analysis, conducted by the Food Safety Administration, the Slovenian Consumer Association and the Nutrition Institute shows food quality in Slovenia is not ideal, but still much better than in countries like the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia.

Out of the 32 products analyzed by the Slovenian Consumer Association, a significant difference in quality was recorded in ten, including Coca Cola, Milka and the Rio mare tuna spreads. Dairy and meat products were also of higher quality in Austria than in Slovenia.

Agriculture Minister Dejan Židan said he planned to bring up the subject of double food standards between western and eastern Europe at next week's meeting of EU ministers in Brussels.
