Slovenian slalom canoeing star Benjamin Savšek has become the European champion for the fourth time.

Savšek is also the reigning Olympic champion.

His latest victory came in the town of Liptovsky Mikulas in northern Slovakia.

It's Slovenia's 15th gold medal at the championships over the years.

His fifth European medal also means that he has equalled the haul of another legendary Slovenian canoeist, Peter Kauzer.

It was also a good day on the water for kayaker Anja Osterman. She won her second race in a row in the 200m sprint event, which took place in Poznan, Poland.
