Emergency dispatchers will be going on strike this morning. The strike will last until an agreement is reached with the government. However, dispatch services via the emergency number 112 will continue to work.
The union announced the strike a week ago.
It has been warning for months that their pay is too low and vacancies are no longer being filled.
Government officials said they regretted the decision. They also said an increase in pay can only be negotiated as part of broader talks on public sector pay reform.
