The project is being run by Slovenian Karitas in association with the Danilo Türk Foundation.

One of the adults who accompanied to children, Admir Sijamhodžić, of the organisation AS Medic, said that the children had already been treated in medical institutions abroad but that that treatment had been inappropriate or of poor quality.

He added that the most urgent things would be taken care of first. After that, their holistic treatment, both physical and pyschosocial, should be continued.

Prime Minister Robert Golob, writing on the government's profile on X, formerly Twitter, warmly welcomed the group to Slovenia, wishing them a successful recovery and a pleasant stay here.
