The National Assembly will take note of Prime Minister Marjan Šarec's resignation this afternoon.

This will also end the term of his entire cabinet. The government will then assume a caretaker role until a new cabinet is sworn in. Until then, the government will not be able to draft new legislation and will only perform day-to-day work.

President Borut Pahor is expected to talk to party representatives about a way forward, but some parties seem to be in informal talks about a new coalition.

Šarec announced his resignation on Monday.
