The six Slovenian soldiers who have served in northern Iraq were safely brought home last night.

This follows a decision to relocate them in the wake of Iran's attacks on Iraqi bases in the night to Wednesday. Colonel Marjan Sirk from the Slovenian Ministry of Defence said the decision was made since the soldiers, who were deployed at Erbil base to train Iraqi security forces, were unable to perform their duties because of the security situation.

Prime Minister Marjan Šarec, Defence Minister Karl Erjavec, and Foreign Minister Miro Cerar all said this did not mean Slovenia was withdrawing from Iraq.
