Slovenia signed a contract to purchase four firefighting planes. The contract was signed today by Defense Minister Marjan Šarec and the Air Tractor US aircraft manufacturer. The first two water bombers are due to arrive in Slovenia in June, and the other two next year. The purchase is estimated at just over EUR 23 million. Each of the aircraft will be able to carry more than 3,000 litres of water. Defense Minister Šarec said the purchase marks a new era in the fight against natural disasters. The decision to buy the planes was made after last year's devastating wildfires in the Karst region.
