Today's a work free bank holiday in Slovenia, as the country celebrates Independence and Unity Day. On this day 32 years ago, Slovenia officially proclaimed the results of its independence referendum. The turnout was over 93%, and 95% of the voters cast their ballot for an independent Slovenia. Slovenia's new president Nataša Pirc Musar shared her Independence and Unity Day message today, recalling the courage and unity that Slovenians showed in 1990. Marking the day the government also called for more unity and solidarity.
