Traditionally, on the eve of Labour Day, bonfires were lit in towns across the country.
Events will also be held today. President Borut Pahor will open his offices to the public, while PM Marjan Šarec will attend a ceremony in Ravne na Koroškem.
Marking Labour Day, or International Workers Day, trade unions point that many employees still work more than eight hours a day or 40 hours per week.
