In her first address, the 54-year-old lawyer said she would work hard for human rights and democracy in her term. She announced that her first move as president would be to host a meeting with the leaders of parliamentary parties.

Pirc Musar will take over as Slovenia's fifth president on December 23 from incumbent Borut Pahor, whose second five-year term ends the day before.
