The pair reportedly spied under the pretext of trading in art. They were apprehended last December in cooperation with the National Bureau of Investigation. State Secretary for National and International Security Andrej Benedejčič says that if the allegations turn out to be true, this will be the biggest success for SOVA so far.
The investigation against the two is ongoing on the suspicion of spying for a foreign intelligence agency and certifying false content in official documents. If proven guilty, the suspects face in total up to eight years in prison.
