After the race he said that yesterday he was very close to winning, and was very disappointed - just a couple of cm away from going down in history, but that today he did it. A couple of weeks ago the Slovenian teenager became the European champion after winning the race in Tacen, Slovenia. Fellow canoeist Luka Božič finished the race 8th.
