Spotlight - EU prosecutor office started work
Germany has officially admitted to committing genocide in the early 20th century in its former colony Namibia. German colonisers killed tens of thousands of Herero and Nama people in Namibia during its rule until 1915. Germany's Foreign Minister Heiko Maas acknowledged the killings as genocide, asking for forgiveness. The statement comes after more than five years of talks between German and Namibian officials. As a gesture of recognition and support, Germany has also vowed to help the country's development with 1,1 billion euros. Photo: EPA

Animal rights protesters blocked four McDonald's distribution centres in the UK, stopping deliveries to 1,300 of the chain's stores. Animal Rebllion is targeting McDonald's "for its role in the climate emergency" and accuse the meat and dairy industry of "destroying the planet" by encouraging deforestation, the emission of greenhouse gases and killing billions of animals every year. Ljubljana's bicycle sharing system, BicikeLJ, marked its 10th anniversary on the 12th of May. From 30 stations and 300 bicycles in the first year, BicikeLJ now has 73 stations and 730 bicycles.
