Free student exchanges in Slovenia are available through the Erasmus+, Erasmus Mundus and Ceepus programs, through bilateral scholarships and other forms of cooperation. Students coming from countries outside the EU and countries with which there are no signed transnational agreements for university studies, have to pay tuition fees.

At the University of Ljubljana there will be 1.500 foreigners attending classes this year, in Maribor there will be 575, at the University of Primorska there will be 140, while in Nova Gorica there will be 100. All of Europe’s countries are represented, but of course there are also students coming from geographically more distant places.

The universities, student tutors and student organizations, all help foreigners integrate in Slovenia and Slovenia’s student life. Foreign students have the same rights as Slovene students: they are entitled to having student IDs, subsidized food and monthly transport tickets, and accommodation in student dormitories.
