In the past years he often exhibited his collection of old-times at several exhibitions; in the last years he likes to invite people who show interest in his tractors to his workshop.
30 years, 20 tractors, and countless hours of work spent in disassembling, painting, repairing, thus changing the rusty sheet metal into sparkling beauties. "I could take any of them to a roadworthiness test, and it would pass," the owner of the tractors claims.
After retiring, he started restoring old tractors. He mostly found them in Slovenia, some also in the neighbouring countries. The youngest was made in 1962, the oldest in 1936.
Tractors and socks
The last tractor to join his collection was a grey Ferguson. The wish is still alive, but Ernest claims it was enough.
Mostly because of his advanced age; as he is over eighty already, but also because he wants his unique collection to be accessible to as many people as possible Ernest decided to resign the management of his collection to the Polzela Institute for Culture, which already has plans for his collection.
"We would like to increase the number of tractors with more and more attractive specimens. We are considering joining this collection to the Polzela Museum of Hosiery Manufacturing," the mayor of Polzela Jože Kužnik explained
And should somebody want to buy his tractors – would he sell? "Absolutely not, I couldn't sell them, I put my whole heart into it. There was a lot of work, and a considerable amount of money, but I don't regret it," the collector claims.
