According to the chairman of the judging panel, Mojmir Wondra of the Biotechnical Faculty in Ljubljana, Slovenian wines are still rather cheap. However, the quality has been steadily improving over the years.

Slovenian winegrowers have recently been complaining about the rainy weather. They say they had to constantly spray the vines against mildew – about twice as often as usual – which makes wine production prohibitively expensive.
