The admittance to the pool at that time cost one Dinar - and it was the beginning of the tourist and spa activity. The Atomic Spa were an example of the syndical tourism so characteristic for Yugoslavia.
A number of other facilities were consequently added to the wooden pool, extending the capacity of the spa in all fields, from bathing to catering industry, health services and recreational capacities. The building of the first hotel started in 1977, followed by swimming pools. In 1988-1989 the "Atomic Village" was built, an apartment complex in the manner of rustic houses, and later also a modern spa complex with indoor and outdoor pools and hotels. The year 2000 was an important milestone in the development of the Spa, including the change of the name from Atomske toplice (Atomic Spa) into Terme Olimia. The former name had, especially abroad, a negative marketing effect. Next the Thermal Park Aqualuna was built, with slides, the largest pool with waves, and the Orhidelia wellness, according to guests, for the seventh year in a row the best wellness centre in Slovenia.
This year, after 10 years of operation, the renovation of their most prestigious hotel Sotelia - the hotel which was awarded the Plečnik prize for architecture in 2006 - was completed. The estimated price of the investment is one million euros; besides the hotel, the Congress centre Olimia was modernized as well, and a charging station for electric bikes was built.
