Last year the company cut down around 81 thousand 500 cubic meters of wood. Around 45 thousand cubic meters of that wood came from damaged trees from the ice storm. The development plans of the company with 202 employees are focused on preserving and increasing the number of jobs in the Kočevje region, where unemployment stands at around 25 percent.
The realization of the company’s development plans, worth around 7 million euros, would see the employment of at least another 100 people. The Snežnik company says that the region of Kočevska Reka, which is 90% covered with forests and has solid infrastructure, offers great opportunities for a potential boom in wood-processing activities, which shouldn’t be missed.
