News of the discovery quickly spread among other old-timer enthusiasts. The van in question, also known as the "bulli", was once very popular among hippies and surfers, where it reached a cult-like status. The price of these vans today can reach such heights that it can make your head spin. So, when the Saving Private Bulli video came out on Youtube, the abandoned van became a real Internet celebrity.
Špehar, an expert on social networks, decided together with his team to transform the almost 60-year-old van into a pub on wheels: Beer Bulli. His reconstruction plan has convinced over 500 Slovenians, which have supported the project through the Adrifund crowdfunding site (the “Slovene version of Kickstarter”) with over 30.000 euros.
The van will be revamped in the style of the 1960s. At the same time it will also be a vehicle which meets all the standards of modern technology and safety. It is scheduled to return on the roads in the middle of this summer. The vehicle’s interior will feature beer kegs, which will be connected to taps on the sides of the van. It will be possible to use the van for weddings, picnics, birthdays or business parties. However, you will have to queue up in line in order to use the van: over 100 enthusiasts have already booked and paid to rent the van through the above-mentioned crowdfunding site.
