Ski-cross world champion Filip Flisar wanted to deliver a good performance during the practice sessions ahead of the World Cup on Saturday, but the Austrian nationals had to be cancelled due to inclement weather. This week, weather conditions have cleared up, and Flisar can hardly wait for the first event to start. It is the first time that freestyle skiers will compete in Montafon, Austria. Flisar will arrive in Montafon on Tuesday. Time trials are scheduled for Friday, and the big race is on Saturday. “I feel excellent, everything seems perfect. Me and the Italian team – the team I train with – feel great,” the 28-year-old Styrian freestyle skier said. He added that his goal for the new season is to perform more consistently: “I would like to regularly qualify for the semi-finals. I found the right team to train with, and now I want to perform consistently well.”
Moreover, Flisar is in great physical condition – something he could leverage to his advantage towards the end of the season: “In the last few seasons, I grew stronger as my rivals grew weaker. This could happen again. Naturally, I’d like to win the first race as well, butthat will be a tall order. I’m like an old diesel engine that takes time to rev up.” Asked whether his rivals had to fear him, Flisar said: “Not at the World Cup, maybe later c. Even if I perform poorly, they will think that I could again swoop out of nowhere.”
Many moustached men shave their moustaches after Movember comes to an end, but Flisar obviously refuses to shave his trademark ‘stache. What is more, Flisar recently introduced his own line of moustache wax. “I teamed up with the guys atRaedical, and we created three types of moustache wax. Every moustached guy will find something to his taste. The Four Cross line features three types of wax. The softest is called Rocker, while IP 66 is the strongest. The latter is really hardcore and should be enough for every situation, unless you fall into a grill face-first,” Flisar said.
