The Albatross ship operates since 1973, when it was first launched under the name of Royal Viking Sea for the American shipping company with the same title. It has changed owners afterwards, until it was bought by the German company Phoenix Reisen in 2005, which had to replace its first Albatross. The transoceanic ship, which sails under the flag of the Bahamas, is 205 metres long and 25 m wide. It can take up to 800 guests aboard.
Koper to host 61 cruise ships with 80,000 tourists
The Albatross is one of (likely) 61 passenger liners that will sail into the port of Koper this year, bringing almost 80,000 tourists into Slovenia, reports the Koper city municipality, adding that the most ships are planned for May and October. The season lasts from February to November, when the last cruiser is expected to arrive.
The Koper Tourism Organisation will adjust all city's major events with the arrivals of cruise ships like every year, and will also try to promote the sights and special adventures in Koper to tourists with a special Koper Card, also noted the Koper municipality.
