The head of the UKC council Tomaž Glažar said that it was a unanimous decision. Baričič is an economist, and a professor at the European Faculty of Law in Nova Gorica; previously he was head of the Gea College, and during Borut Pahor's government he was a member of the UKC Ljubljana council. He is also a former Nova Ljubljanska banka supervisor. In 2011 he unofficially ran for office of the general manager of the Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia.
The term of the current acting general manager Simon Vrhunec ends on August 10, and on Wednesday he announced that he had no intention to continue acting as general manager of UKC. He won't apply for the office of director general of the largest Slovenian hospital. He was director general with full powers for four years, and for next two years performed the duties of acting director general of UKC Ljubljana.
