Janko Veber had to step down as Defence Minister after it transpired that he ordered the ministry's Intelligence and Security Service (OVS) to conduct an analysis on the security ramifications of a sale of state-owned telco Telekom Slovenije to a foreign owner.

PM Cerar then called upon Veber to resign, even though Veber was adamant that he had acted in accordance with the law and in the country's best interests. Veber was dismissed as Defence Minister in an extraordinary session after he failed to convince MPs otherwise. He will now himself become an MP.

Aged 45, Katič graduated from the Maribor Faculty of Law in 1996. Between 1998 and 2014, she was Head of Financial and Legal Services at the Velenje Municipality, and Head of the Velenje Municipality Administration.
