The only catering establishment near the Ptuj lake has been without guests for approximately one month. The construction inspector has closed it for lack of documentation, but the BD society led by Emil Mesarič claim that everything is in order and that the documents comply with the municipal regulations; their opinion vastly differs from the opinion of the mayor of Ptuj Miran Senčar. "There are many things standing where they shouldn't. All the piers are outside the water rights, some facilities are in places where no building is permitted, and have no building permit. Some facilities are of temporary nature and their status should be changed. The containers for crafts are on the land owned by the city municipality, without a hiring contract," the mayor of Ptuj enumerates the irregularities and shortcomings.
"These are not illicit constructions, they all have building permits," claims the head of the BD society Mesarič, and explains that the catering establishment has been operating lawfully since 2006, when it was given into management to the company Radial. He disagrees with the claim that some piers and other facilities have been built without a permit. "How can the city municipality claim that the piers are built without permit, when the site plan has been adopted? And the existing piers are a part of the site plan, an integral part of the harbour where they can be moored," Mesarič wonders, but he does admit that some bureaucratic issues still need to be settled. The city municipality found the solution for the present situation by excluding the BD society, and gave a concession to their own company. "The concession for managing the Ptuj lake was given to our Public Utility Company, which is a serious company and will take care of problems which should have been solved long time ago. It will take the necessary steps in order legalize everything at Ranca, from facilities to activities," Senčar explained the decision adopted by the city municipality.
"How could the city municipality give the concession to the Public Utility Company? They disobeyed their own ordinance, as the Public Utility Company of Ptuj this year has not been registered for work and navigation on inland waters, nor for work in marinas. The registration procedure has been initiated only now, which is the proof of (il)legality," Mesarič points at the allegedly controversial actions of the city municipality.
Regardless of everything the city municipality promises that by next spring there will again be a catering establishment near the Ptuj lake.
