The 27-year-old was defeated by Kiki Bertens from the Netherlands, with 6-4 and 7-5. Jakupović played well against the favourable rival. In the first set, which lasted for 52 minutes, she could not catch up, however, after the second one, she made a comeback, although Kiki Bertens took a 4-1 lead.
After they were tied at 5-5, the 89th player on the ATP ranking, immediately lost the first serve and Bertens redeemed the first match point in the next game. The match lasted an hour and 48 minutes.
There were three Slovenians in playing in Seoul. In the first round, Polona Hercog eliminated Zidanšek, who had to acknowledge the superiority of Ajla Tomljanović in the semifinals.
