Renner won gold with a vault over 555 centimetres. At the same height, Leonid Kobelev from Russian came second, followed by Adrian Valles in third place (550 cm).
"I'm definitely very satisfied, and I'm especially happy that I've endured the mental pressure which I felt before today's competition, since I had been among the favourites for top places. A medal is a medal; I don't care at all right now if it's gold, silver or bronze. If someone had told me before the start of this season that I'd get a medal, I'd had told them they had no clue about athletics," said Janežič.
Janežič covered the 400m distance in 45,73. Thomas Jordier (45,50) from France won the race, while second place was given to Russia's Pavel Ivaško (45,73) by a photo finish. Maruša Mišmaš, another Slovenian athlete, took fifth place in 3,000m hurdles.
