Just as seven months ago at Wembley, the football Slovenia is again mourning for the lost opportunity to snatch at least a point from the mighty England.

Once again Slovenia took the lead, and again the team was too euphoric, and lacked focus. The English, presently 15th on the Fifa scale, wasted no time and immediately punished them. In London the joy was short-lived; only a minute or so – and then the hope was destroyed with Boštjan Cesar's foul against Wayne Rooney, and the goal scored from penalty kick.

This time, in Ljubljana, the Manchester United forward needed only two minutes to change the score of 2:2 and silence the cheerful fans on the Ljubljana stands. Aleš Matelj lost the ball, next Bojan Jokić made a mistake and the merriment was over.

Ilić: We still have a lot of work to do
"The second equalising goal resurrected the team, and I sensed that the English might have reconciled themselves with one point. But then we made a chain of mistakes, and Rooney proved his quality. We are sad, regardless of the fact that they were the better opponent. Our selector told us that we had fought hard, and proved our wish to win at least one point, and that's why he felt sorry mostly for us. We did work very hard these twelve days, but without the desired result," Branko Ilić said after the match.

Brečko: It is hard
Mišo Brečko, who was very busy guarding Raheem Sterling, only shook his head: "It's unbelievable - another very sad match against England. There must be a jinx against us when playing against them. Regardless of how the match unfolds, in the end we lose. It is rather hard to say something sensible right after the match. We must admit that occasionally they were the better team in the field, but we were the first to score, we stood well in the field, and then equalized to 2:2 in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, we disappointed in the end. We might have won at least one point. Now we must get over the defeat, and then raise our heads again. It is hard."
