The president of the National Assembly in his response to the UK referendum result supporting the UK exit from the European Union wrote that he respected the decision made by the voters. However, he believes that Great Britain has chosen a very difficult and thorny path - not only difficult for Great Britain, but for all the states which collaborate with Britain at the economic and political level.
According to Brglez, Great Britain has always been one of the foundation stones of the development of European integrations, and an integral part of the European humanism; its role in thorough and radical consideration on what kind of development we would like for the EU would be crucial, had it decided to stay in the EU. "I believe that the European Union is the only right path for all the countries of Europe. It is the path of democracy, peace, and rule of law. It also the path of economic development, and towards general welfare for all our citizens."
Brglez added that the referendum result should not cause the other states to remain passive; they should gain new momentum and increase the efforts and make the European Union even better, of higher quality, and especially more citizen-friendly.
