She does not see her political past to be a burden, considering the fact that she will be running a humanitarian organization. Before she even got involved with politics she was already vice-president of the Red Cross's Metlika unit.
The new secretary general is facing many challenges, especially with ensuring sufficient assisstance to people who need help. The number of those in need has been growing since 2008, as poverty in Slovenia is said to have deepened.
