On the 3rd of December Ivica Buljan staged the premiere of Pier Paolo Pasolini's philosophical and poetic work Pylade, in the renowned La MaMa theatre. Buljan gave the leading role to Marko Mandić, and invited his long-term collaborator, Ana Savić Gecan, to be the costume designer. The show thrilled New York’s audience. In several articles critics have labeled it as "the theatrical event" of the 2015-2016 New York theatre season. They also highlight the acting of Slovenian actor Mandić.
"By establishing a dialogue with Pasolini's aesthetic and being as naked in his proposal as most of the actors are on stage - Mandić being the ultimate and greatest personification of naked truth I've seen on stage in a long time - Buljan manages to turn vulgarity into a powerful reminder of how selective our political minds and how biased our morals can be," is what Mateus Ciucci Ferreira wrote about the production on Theasy theatre review site.

Pasolini, a film director and writer, is considered as one of the most significant Italian left-wing intellectuals from the 20th century. The theatre performance, somewhat unusual, is only the first of any of Pasolini's works in English. However, the author it not unknown to Buljan, who already directed Pasolini's Pigsty in Moscow and Trieste, as well as his play Un Pesciolino.
